Summer in Sicily screams granita con la brioche! What’s a granita? It’s not a gelato, it’s not a sorbet it’s not a water-ice, it’s so much better. La mia preferita, my favorite? Mandorla macchiata caffè, almond with a touch of coffee. Favolosa!!Fabulous!! Served with a warm brioche is mouthwatering…I dream about it when I’m in the states and could really eat it every day during summer time - actually, I almost do, to be perfectly honest with you….troppo buona, non resisto, too good, I can’t resist!
Now, all I can do for now is inviting you over to try this delight. In fact, I’m not going to give you any recipe, since all the granite I made were not as good as the ones you can eat at a Sicilian bar. So, while I keep trying and tasting, I’ll give you a pillola d’italiano: words ending with an accent on the last vowel, like caffè, città, papà, università do not change in the plural. All you have to do to change the number is change the article. So, for instance, ad esempio, IL caffè will be I caffè in the plural; LA città will be LE città. Got it? Hope you did, because it’s getting late and I’m off for my next granita!
