There’s a new word I’ve been hearing this summer. It’s not an aperitif (aperitivo) - that sounds like too much drinking and too little eating – and it’s not a dinner (cena) that might sound too heavy. It’s a hybrid in between, it’s an APERICENA. Sounds ugly, right? Still, if you are into light, early dinners, that might be your thing! Plus, this word might be used to describe what happened to my last aperitif.
A couple of days ago my friend Valeria invited us to her gorgeous, new house for what was supposed to be a 7 pm aperitivo. She made so much yummy stuff I can’t even tell you; forget chips and nuts, I mean really good food.
E sapete cosa E’ successo? Do you want to know what happened? Well, we all showed up on time, and we started eating and drinking and laughing. Per farvela breve, long story short, we stayed at her house until 12:30 at night!! Now, maybe this is closer to a sleepover than an apericena, right Valeria? .…still, we had fun and food was really something! My favorite? Cornetti al pesto di pistacchio, croissants filled with pistachio pesto. Look at them!
I haven’t tried them yet, but I trust her they are super easy to make! All you need is one or two sheets of puff pastry that you should cut into triangles (that’s easier with a round shaped pastry, of course). Then add your favorite spread and roll them starting from the long side. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 for about 30 minutes or until golden. Provateli, try them for your next apericena!!
